Today our task was to draw a color monster and write similes on how you're feeling today. First we watched a video of someone reading 'the color monster' and it was about a monster who changes color depending on what emotion he's feeling. Happy= Yellow, Angry= Red, Fear= Grey, Sad= Blue, Calm= Green and Love= Pink. These are some emotions people have and feel but there are more like; anxious, nervous, brave, confused and more. After we watched the video, one of our teachers (Whaea Ocea) presented her screen and showed a few slides with the emotions and photos from the book. Each emotion had its own slide with its own color theme. Happy slide had yellow, anger had red and I think you know what the rest had. Anyway, we had to fill in the empty space in the sentences and we also had to find other words that matched the emotion, basically synonyms. We didn't have time to do the last slide which was love. Today I am feeling calm so I made my monster green and then decided to have a green theme for my google drawing slide. What I found challenging was writing similes for the emotion calm and deciding how my monster should look like. I enjoyed decorating my monster and thinking of how I should write my similes. The dark green thing on her body is her cloths and those rainbow dots are her emotions. She changes color based of her emotions!
Here is how it looks!
Kia ora Tina. Wow, what a blog post! I love the way you've described your learning. It was a really smart choice to highlight the different colours to make them stand out. I enjoyed your calm similes. Did you make your picture yourself?
ReplyDeleteKia ora Phil! Yes I made the color monster myself.
DeleteKia ora Tina. I like that you wrote what you found challenging, similes can be hard sometime cant they, but you did a great job doing them! I love how you told us what we were learning about too. Ka pai to mahi
ReplyDeleteKia ora Tina, great job on your description of your learning! I like that you included the different coloured dots on your calm monster and described that she changes colour based on her emotions, very cool. What tool did you use to make the mouth and eyes on your monster?
ReplyDeleteKeep up the great blogging,
Whaea Ocea
Kia ora Whaea Ocea. For the mouth and eyes I used 'Polyline' to draw it. It's on google drawing.
